Willene (Overbay) Vogel

     Willene Vogel, 73, of Tilton, passed away at 4:55am, Monday, November 16, 2020, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville.  She was born on November 13, 1947, in Lexington, Kentucky the daughter of John William and Lucy Frances Overbay.
     During her marriage to Oscar Smith, they had five children.  She was later wed to Kevin Vogel on May 12, 2001.  He survives.
      She is also survived by:  her sons, Tim (Jessica) Smith, Ronnie (Tracy) Smith, & Ricky (Tiffany) Smith; her daughters, Loretta Sanderson & Connie Smith; her son-in-law, Jon Sanderson; her step-sons, Aaron (Andrea) Vogel & Joshua Schwartz; her step-daughter, Alisa (Paul) Sudlow; her sisters, Louise Durham, Rosetta Overbay, & Pauline Harris; her several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by:  her parents; her brothers, Elza & Evert Overbay; her sisters, Viola Russell, Martha Alice Overbay, & Lolamae Barnett; her stepdaughter, Jessica Thorn; and her grandson, William Sanderson.
     Willene had worked as a cook for over 17 years for Green Brier and 11 years at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.  She enjoyed her work very much and was a wonderful cook.  She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.  She always loved to be outside.  She was the happiest to be with her family and being able to cook for them.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
     A private family service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883.  Visitation for friends and family will be held 10:00am to 1:00pm, Friday, November 20, 2020, at the funeral home.  Due to health concerns, attendees are requested to wear face masks and practice social distancing.  She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.  Memorial donations may be given in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
