Virginia Galbreath Obituary

Virginia Ann Galbreath, 95, of Covington passed away on Sunday July 19, 2020. She was born in Danville, IL on July 2, 1925 the daughter of Charles A. and Blanche C. (Scott) McJilton. On March 12,1943 Virginia married the love of her life John W. Galbreath in Champaign, IL.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 77 years, John W. Galbreath; son, John W. (Toni) Galbreath Jr. of Champaign; Mother of grandchildren, Barbara Wildman George; Grandsons, David (Sandy) Galbreath of Tolono, Douglas (Kim) Galbreath of Champaign; Step Grandchildren, John (Julie) Beatty of Tolono, Sara (Jeff) Beatty Riebe of Thawville; Great Grandchildren, Jennifer Galbreath of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew and Andrew Galbreath of Champaign, Adaira and Max Beatty of Tolono, Mason Riebe of Thawville; Special Niece, Sandra Farley of Pekin and Great Niece, Julie Brush-Olsen.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margret Duez (Jules).

Virginia attended Diamond Grade School and Oakwood High School. She was a member of Second Church of Christ and was instrumental in the founding of the Northland Christian Church where she served in the capacities of Sunday School Teacher for many years. Virginia was the President of the Women’s Fellowship, was a part of various committees, served as Church Historian and Treasurer of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She served as a Red Cross volunteer for several years.

Virginia worked at Fannie May Candies for 11 years. She also helped her husband in their business at John’s Wheel Alignment Shop. She enjoyed traveling, reading, working with crafts, playing on the computer, and working with flowers in the yard. Virginia especially enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with friends and family.

A Celebration of Virginia’s life will take place at 11am on Friday July 24, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 with John Graves officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10am to 11am at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Danville National Cemetery.
