Virginia T. (Lawless) Bennett

     Virginia T. Bennett, 91, of Westville, passed away at 2:20pm, Monday, August 24, 2020, at her home.  She was born on January 18, 1929, in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of Amos and Mary {Lawson} Lawless.  She was married to Frank Bennett until his passing in 1999.

     She is survived by:  her sons, Richard Carrigan of Grape Creek, Norman (Dan) Carrigan of Georgetown, & Keith Carrigan of Westville; her daughters, Gloria (Jim) Hawkins of Oakwood & Denise Brasker of Westville; her 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

     Virginia was a member of the Community Church of God in Danville.  She visited Haiti many times on mission trips.  She was well-known for her baked pies at Church.  She also belonged to the Danville Garden Club.  Virginia is best known for her love of cooking large dinners for her family.  Her legacy will live through her family’s memories.

     A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Corey Stocksdale officiating.  Visitation will be held 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Georgetown. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by those in attendance of the visitation and or service.   Memorial donations may be given in her name to Community Church of God, 535 S.
