Thomas Peirson Obituary

Danville - Thomas Ray Peirson, 92, of Danville, passed away at 3:15 PM on Monday, July 26, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.

Thomas was born on August 10, 1928 in Terre Haute, IN the son of the late George and Claribel Peirson. He married the love of his life, Alma C. Himmichhoeffer on February 2, 1952 and they spent 68 wonderful years together until Alma’s passing in August of 2020.

Survivors include his son David (Terri) Peirson of Danville, IL, grandchildren, Jakob Peirson of Danville, IL and Tyler (Amber) Burris of Westville, IL, great grandchildren, Aubrey and Harrison Burris of Westville, IL, as well as two nieces, Marla and Carla and one nephew, Dana and several cousins.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alma and one brother, Edward (Trula) Pond.

Thomas graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1947 in Terre Haute, IN. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force with the Strategic Air command in Omaha, Nebraska. He served with the 30th Command Squadron and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Thomas and his wife, Alma, moved to Danville, IL in 1956 to begin his career with R&S Printing, from which he retired in 1993. Thomas was a member of St Paul’s Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Post 210.

The family would like to thank the staff of OSF Hospice for their service and care during Thomas’ journey, especially his nurse Karen. Also, his wonderful homecare worker and dear friend Brenda as well as Father Bo from St Paul’s Catholic Church for his weekly spiritual support and guidance.

Per Thomas’ wishes, private family services will be held. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
