Patty Funk Obituary

Patty Ann (Winn) Funk, 89 years old of Danville, IL.  passed away from this life into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her family, on March, 18th 2020 at 6:07pm at North Logan Healthcare Center in Danville, IL

She was born October 23, 1930 to William and Opal (Colvin) Miller, in Paris, IL.

She married Marion T. Winn, May 1st, 1951 and they have 7 children together. She is survived by her 5 daughters and 2 sons.

Patty (Cliff) Lindley, Debra (Jim) Wood, Dennis (Cindy) Winn,

Donald (Carrie) Winn, Lynnette (Kenny) Mccoy, Kimberly (Larry) Harper, Nannette (Sean) Sotudeh and step son Cecil Funk Jr.

Marion preceded her in death on April 13th, 1967.

She then married Cecil A. Funk on September 18th, 1982 in Springfield, IL. Then he preceded her in death on July 15th, 2011.

She has 23 grandchildren: Pete (Kristi) Powell, Christopher (Jessica) Winn, Lisa (Jamie) Mohler, Rob (Jennifer) Wood, Shay (Matt) Jones, Kristy (Adam) Eyer, LuAnn (Barry) Grimm, Jimmy (Jamie) Stitt, Catherine Winn, Garrett Winn, Kyle Tappan, Cassidy Tappan, Jessica VanEtta, Ryan McCoy, A.J. (Bianca) McCoy, Tyler (April) McCoy, Chelsea (Cody) Phillips, Shelby (Dustin) Balansky, Jordan McCoy, Lucas McCoy, Rebecca Harper, Brittany (Blake) Andersson and Dustin Drollinger.

She has 41 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Her beloved dog Casey who always brought her lots of joy for the past 10 years.

Patty graduated from Kingman High School, in Indiana in 1948. She graduated from nursing school as an LPN and worked at Lakeview in Danville, IL now OSF from 1966 to 1981. She worked at North Logan Healthcare in Danville, IL part time from 1976 to 1981. She finished her OB/GYN nursing at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL from 1981 to 1995. She then went to work at Weight Watchers, from 1995 to 2010.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. William (Janet) Miller, John Miller, Max Miller, Don Miller, Ona Mae (Frank) Hall, Mertie (Jim) Ramey, Robert (Eileen) Miller and by 4 grandchildren.

Patty was a die-hard Cub Fan, she always said she was a Cub fan before she was even born. One of her greatest joys was to see her beloved Cubbies win the World Series in 2016. Go Cubbies!

She was widowed at age 36 and had to work full time, but she always made sure her children attended church every Sunday. Because of that we will have the joy of seeing her in Heaven.

We will always love and will miss you mom, you are Awesome!!

Patty moved back to Danville in 2014 and attended the Danville Alliance Church.

There will be a private family service on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Officiating will be Pastor Len Bauer of the Danville Alliance Church.

There will be a memorial service at a later date, held at the Danville Alliance Church, due to the recent events of the Coronavirus.

Our mom spent her final days at North Logan Healthcare entertaining the staff and we want to express our thanks to the staff at North Logan Healthcare for their excellent care you gave our mom. You are all awesome!
