Norma (Mills) Walker

     Norma Walker, 90, a longtime resident of Olivet, passed away at 8:10am, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, IL.  She was born the daughter of Harley and Lois {Black} Mills on November 24, 1931, at home in Georgetown.  She was united in marriage to James H. Walker on June 1, 1951, in Jacksonville, FL, until his passing on July 28, 2016.
     Norma is survived by her son, James Dean (Summer) Walker of Oakwood, IL; her daughters, Vickie Lynn (Mark) Brent of Washington, IL, & Terrie Gae (Dan) Hayes of Hawesville, KY; her brother, Ernest Mills of Richmond, IN; her sister, Donna (Eugene) Taylor of Chrisman, IL; her grandchildren, Andrew Brent of Parma, OH, Nicholas Brent of Washington, IL, Anthony Brent of Normal, IL, Elissa Haines of Noblesville, IN, Amanda Hobson of Carmel, IN, Clayton Walker of Oakwood, & Riley Walker of Oakwood; and her nine great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and her sister, Carol Myers.
     Norma graduated from Georgetown High School.  She attended Vermilion Grove Friends Church where her husband, James, was pastor for many years.  She was always a mom first and her kids loved and respected her immensely.  She enjoyed being a homemaker and doing puzzles as well as reading.  She collected butterflies, angels, and loved taking care of the flowers and eating ice cream.  Above all, Norma loved her family and cherished time she spent with her children and grandchildren, as well as her brother & sisters.
     A celebration of Norma’s life will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Gary Farris officiating.  Visitation will be held 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday prior to her service at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be given in her name to Vermilion Grove Friends Church or Carle Oncology, Vermilion Street, Danville.  Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
