Mary Pentecost

Mary Pentecost “Nana,” 71, slipped into the welcoming arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 30, 2021 accompanied by the prayers of her family. She was born on August 18, 1950, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Mercer) O’Neal in Danville, IL.

Mary is survived by her husband, Stan Pentecost; children, Ronald Johnson, Mikel (Christy) Johnson, and Angela (Andrew) Dalton; grandchildren, Ronnie Jr., Marrie, Ember, Tryton, Kendra, Ohdesa, Cye'Lest, Maribel, and Seth; many great grandchildren; siblings, Molly Anderson and Charles O’Neal; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Benjamin.

Mary was a loving and caring Nana to many children; two legged and four. She liked to knit and crotchet and gifted family members with her creations. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a lifetime member Iliana Genealogy Society, the DAR, Lynch Fire Department Auxiliary, and supported every sport and activity her grandchildren where in. Above all she loved her family. She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Humrichous. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held the evening prior on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church or any local animal shelter of your choosing.
