Lester 'Bill' Taylor Obituary

     Lester “Bill” Taylor, 97, of Chrisman, passed away at 4:23am, Sunday, August 31, 2020, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman.  He was born on August 4, 1923, in Danville, the son of Everett and Dona {Cope} Taylor.  He was united in marriage to Geovina Cimino in 1946 until her passing in December of 2002.
     He is survived by:  his children, Dona (Jim) Hoult, Vickie (Paul) Stirling, & Nita Fern Stewart; his daughter-in-law, Linda Taylor; his brother, Max “Mick” (Tracie) Taylor; his 10 grandchildren; and his 17 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by:  his parents; his stepmother, Jo Bertelli, his son, Larry Michael Taylor; his sisters, Lois, Esther, & Pat Kerchaval; and his brothers, Evan Taylor & Kenneth Taylor.
     Bill worked for Teepak for many years before retiring in 1985, but in his early years worked as a farmhand.  He was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving during WWII.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #477.  After retiring, he was a member of Good Sams Chapter in Danville, Salty Sams.  He was known to camp a lot and loved to go bowling.  He & his wife also spent their winters in Lake Wales, Florida.  Above all, he loved his family and cherished his grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
     A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Graveside at 2:30pm, Friday, September 4, 2020, at Georgetown Cemetery. with Dr. Ken Crawford officiating.  Visitation will be held 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, September 4, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846.  It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by those in attendance of the visitation and or service.  Memorial donations may be given in his name to American Legion Post #477, Chrisman, IL.  Please join his family in sharing memories through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
