Leo Milius Obituary

     Leo J. Milius, 86, of Bismarck, Illinois, passed away at 1:23pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Autumn Trace in Attica, Indiana.  He was born on February 14, 1933, in Helvey, Nebraska the son of William A. and Anna Elizabeth Milius.  He was united in marriage to Doris Roderick on September 1, 1953, at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL, until her passing on February 24, 2016.

     Leo will be dearly missed by: his son, David (Laura) Milius of Flower Mound, TX; his daughters, Karen (Dick) Taylor of West Lebanon, IN, Barb (Ken) Miller of Danville, IL, Debbie (Dean) Chew of Covington, IN, & Spring Noah of Chicago, IL; his special friend, Sharon Tison of Fairmount, IL; his sister Laverne (Eldo) Bartels of Fairbury, NE; his grandchildren, Shilynn (David) Darner of Williamsport, IN, Rob (Cassy) Ludwig of Kewanee, IL, Ryan Ludwig of Indianapolis, Cole (Rob O’Donnell) Miller of Kalamazoo, MI, Emily Milius of Eugene, OR, Bethany (Zach) Jumps of Pittsfield, IL, Mary (Jake) Oberg of Houston, TX, Michael Milius of Chicago, IL, Riley Chew of Covington, IN, Anna Milius of Lewisville, TX, & Nikki Noah of Chicago; and his 17 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by:  his parents; his daughter, Cathy; his son, Wayne; and one grandson, Cody Miller.

     Leo graduated from Fairbury High School in Nebraska and entered the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1959.  He was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul.  After leaving the service, he worked for Lenover’s Sales & Service as a welder.  In 1977, he started his own business, Leo’s Petroleum & Maintenance.  After retirement, Leo assisted Doris with the real estate business.  He was a lifetime member of the Vermilion County Fairboard.  He enjoyed sharing their house in the Ozarks with his family.  He also enjoyed going to the Riverboat and gaming, as well as, collecting antiques and shopping the yard sales.  Most of all, Leo loved his family, especially his grandkids, and will remembered by all whose lives he touched.

     A celebration of Leo’s life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834, with Pastor Bruce Thornsbrough officiating.  Visitation will be held 4:00pm - 7:00pm, Friday, January 31, 2020, at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Walnut Corner Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 210 of Danville.  Memorial donations may be given in his name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Please join his family in sharing memories, photos, & videos through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
