She received the Golden Ruler Award for her dedicated service and retired from the School District in 2006. She was known by many as a loving person who cared more for others, always putting family and friends first in her life. She loved to sing and loved her dogs, Abby and Zeke. She volunteered as a youth leader for Olivet Church of the Nazarene and the Danville First Church of the Nazarene where she also worked in their office for a while. Karen was also known to never meet a stranger and kindly talked with everyone. During the annual Holiday Gathering in Georgetown, everyone was quick to grab some of her highly sought-after holiday candy. She will be forever remembered and loved by all whose lives she touched.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Carle and OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center of Danville for their support and care they showed for Karen and her family.
