James "Jim" Vance Obituary

            James “Jim” E. Vance, of Danville, passed away on January 13, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born a son of Charles and Betty Vance on February 8, 1955 in Danville.

            Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cherie Vance, daughters Jullie (Dennis) Bond and Jamie Allison (Brad Hooks), and grandchildren Mikella Bond, Riley Allison, Dalton Bond, Trisdan Allison, Brystal Allison, Garrett Allison, and Jessi Allison. He also leaves behind his siblings Russell (Pat) Vance, Bill Vance, Betsy Vance (Dan), and Randy Vance (Jeanette), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. His two loyal bloodhounds, Red and Ruby, will miss him as well.

            Jim was preceded in death by his son James Jr., siblings Jessie Vance, Charlie Vance, Mike Vance, and sister-in-law Cathy Vance. He is also reunited in death with his nephew Jesse W. Vance, niece Casey Vance, son-in-law Toby Allison, and his two dogs Huckleberry and Cooter.

            Jim loved his family and loved every minute he was able to spend with them. He worked at ERH Enterprise for many years until his passing. He loved his Hot Rods and going to car shows. His garage was full of the hundreds of trophies he had won throughout the years. He was crazy about his mules and donkeys.

            A visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 3:00 pm Monday. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery following the services.
