Jack F. Walker

Jack Walker of Danville passed away at the age of 88 on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born on July 15, 1933, the son of Archie and Irene Walker, who proceeded him in death.

Jack has two sisters, Janet and Janene, both living in Florida. He had 3 children, Tona who proceeded him in death and 2 sons, Greg and Rian. He has 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild who is also named Jack.

Jack was a graduate of Danville High School in 1951 and went on to Purdue and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1956. He was the Captain of the Purdue wrestling Team as a 126 lightweight, which at the time was unheard of.  He loved his Boilermakers, the team, Purdue Boilermakers, not the drink, but was known to have a few boilermakers in his early years.

Jack was the owner of Walkers Superstore which was started by his father in 1938. He was a successful business man and was also the District 118 School Board President. His main passion in life was hunting and conservation. He traveled the world chasing ducks and loved the outdoors and all of his duck hunting buddies. Jack was the past President of the Danville chapter of Ducks Unlimited, the past President of the state and the Mississippi flyway Life Sponsor Chairman. He was also the only distributor of DU hats in the USA.  If you were wearing a DU hat in the 70’s, it came from him. He will be missed by many, but not by the Ducks.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Pavlick. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery 301 East Voorhees, Danville Illinois. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
