George Skinner Obituary

Danville - George Manson Skinner, 83 of Danville, passed away November 7, 2020 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL. 

George was born December 22, 1936 in Hoopeston Illinois, the son of Walter and Frances (Fink) Skinner. 

George is survived by sisters-in-law, Vera and Pam Skinner and brother-in-law, Larry Lemley.  He is also survived by a large family of adoring nieces, nephews and cousins. 

George is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers (Donald, Jesse, Wayne and Larry) and four sisters (Dorothy, Mary, Faye and Shirley), also the love of his life Jane Vandermeulen. 

George attended East Lynn schools.  He proudly served in the US Army in Germany and achieved the rank of Spec. 4.  He had various jobs in his life and worked many years at Pearson’s Melon Farm in Tilton.   

George enjoyed playing Yahtzee and Pinochle.  He also liked to tell stories of the past to anyone who would listen.  

Memorials can be made to charity of donor’s choice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Spring of 2021. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, IL, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
