Dora Read-Jameson Obituary

Dora B. Read-Jameson, 86, of Oakwood passed away at 2:09am on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. She was born in Danville on July 22, 1933 the daughter of Leroy and Gennie Moulton. On June 17, 1951 Dora married Lowell E. Read and they spent 43 years together before his passing. On September 9, 2000 she married Ed Jameson in Danville, he survives.

Dora is survived by her husband, Ed; daughter, Susan (Rusty) Golden; grandchildren, Jenna (Nicholas) Henderson, Angelia (Jacob) Ginn, Jessica Brito and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lowell Read; son, Monty Read; brother, Bill Moulton; sisters, Louise (Bill) Alpers, Goldie (Kenneth) Strange, Jessie (Roy) Lee, Anna Shoemaker, Charity (Kenneth) Byerly, Mary (Henry) Crider and stepsister, Evelyn Alpers.

Dora graduated from Oakwood High School class of 1951 before attending the University of Illinois, where she received a master’s degree in education. She worked within the Georgetown school district for 25 years before retiring. Dora enjoyed music and played the violin and piano as well as the organ for her local church. She was a member of the antique automobile club and loved spending time with her family.

A celebration of Dora’s life will take place at 10am on Saturday February 15, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 with Charlie Strange officiating. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday February 14, 2020 from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
