Debra Hayes

Danville – Debra K Hayes, 67, of Danville passed away at her home at 8:40 am on September 9, 2020.

Debra was born on January 12, 1953 the daughter of Robert E. and Donna E. (Moss) Messenger at the U.S Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois.  She married Robert Ivan Hayes on November 13, 1976 in Danville and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2002.

Survivors include her mother, Donna Messenger of Danville, IL two sons, Donald Hayes of Danville, IL and Robert Hayes of Champaign, IL, one daughter, Deanna Cunningham of Tilton, two brothers, Randy Messenger of Danville, IL and Mike Messenger of Danville, IL, three grandchildren, Nicholas Beresford, Daryn Beresford and Pyper Hayes as well as three great-grandchildren, DeLayni Cudney, DeLyhla Cudney and Kennedi Butler.

Debra is preceded in death by her father, Robert Messenger and husband Robert Hayes.

Debra worked at the Illiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a Supply Technician for many years. She was always helping those around her and loved to spend her free time at her children’s’ sporting events, motocross events and cooking. In her younger years she was an avid softball player. Most of all, Debra enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Robbie Ketcherside will officiate. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or service wear a mask and practice social distancing.
