Daniel H. Schlorff, 89, of Danville passed away at 3:44 AM on September 19, 2022 at Accolade Healthcare in Danville, IL.
Daniel was born on March 15, 1933 the son of Paul and Grace (Stickler) Schlorff in Danville, IL. He married Patsy Houk on August 18, 1957 and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2006. He later married Carolyn (Alderson) Hambright on September 16, 2007 and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Schlorff, four step-children, Vicki (James) Winters of Danville, IL, Warren (Kyla) Hambright of Alabama, Robert (Janet) Hambright of Oakwood, IL and Chris (Christina) Hambright of Texas, one sister, Anna Marie Chrisman, seven step-grandchildren, Josh and Kelsey, Jackie and Travis, Jamie, Randy, Dustin, Shawn and Branden as well as two step-great-grandchildren, Reagan and Jenson.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Patsy, one sister, Evelyn, one brother, Sam and one step-grandchild, Danny.
Daniel was a life-time member of the Bowman Avenue Methodist Church where he attended since the age of 2 weeks old. He served in the United State Army during the Korean War and farmed in the Vermilion County Area his entire life. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans where he served on the Honor Guard for many years. Daniel enjoyed going to church, where he also sang in the church choir. He also enjoyed spending his free time traveling, watching westerns, especially Gun Smoke, on television and reading. As fate would have it, Daniel was finally able to marry “the girl he missed his chance with many years ago” and was able to spend fifteen wonderful years with his wife, Carolyn.
A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park Danville, Illinois 3901 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61832. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 210 at graveside. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial may be made in Daniel’s name to the Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church.
