Curtis Atkinson Obituary

     Curtis L. Atkinson, 82, of Danville, passed away at 8:06am, Thursday, November 12, 2020, at his home.  He was born on June 19, 1938, in Fairfield, IL, the son of George and Ruth Atkinson.  He was wed to Emma Salinas on March 6, 1961.  She survives.
     He is also survived by:  his sons, James Atkinson of Phoenix, AZ, Scott Atkinson of Westville, & Kevin (Jamie) Atkinson of Oakwood; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Hassan) Mousa, Steven (Jena) Atkinson, Robert Atkinson, Tira Atkinson, Amber Atkinson, Kandace (Jake) Wantland, Scott (Ashtin) Atkinson, Cameron Atkinson, Emily Atkinson; his 9 great grandchildren; his brother, William Atkinson; and his sisters, Kay Shuts, Nancy Chanlin, Betty Zimmerman, & Mary Watts.  He was preceded in death by:  his parents; his sons, Alan Atkinson & Curtis Atkinson, Jr.; his brothers, George Atkinson, Jr. & Gene Atkinson; and his sisters, Rosana & Helen.
     Curtis was a proud Veteran of the US Army.  He worked as a machinist and helped at the Danville Veteran’s Administration and American Legion in Westville.  He was also a member of the United Way Board and member of the Masons.  Curtis enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family.
     A private family service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883.  He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, IL.  Memorial donations may be given in his name to donor’s choice of charity.  Please join his family sharing memories through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
