Dr. William Charles Nickle, 76, of Covington passed away on Saturday January 5, 2019 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. He was born on February 26, 1942 in Clinton IN the son of Ernest W. and Ruby R. Bean. On August 31, 1962 William married the love of his life Linda Kay Moudy and they have spent the last 56 year together, she survives.
Also surviving William are his four sons, Daniel W. (Lisa) Nickle, Kenneth L. Nickle, Joseph R. (Christy) Nickle, James E. (Rochelle) Nickle; two brothers, Thomas W. Nickle, Michael R. Nickle, one aunt, Dorene Bean, 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, several sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including his special cousins Carol Sue Hoyt and John D. Nickle.
William is preceded in death by his parents.
William was formerly from Hillsboro, IN where he graduated from Hillsboro High School. In 1986 William graduated from Bob Jones University in Greensville SC with a Bachelor of Arts degree before attending Andersonville Theological Seminary Where he received his masters in 2003 and his Doctor of Theology in 2006. William was the principal and teacher at First Baptist Church and Christian School in Covington. He was pastor at both Cates Community in Cates, IN as well as Mt. Carmel Baptist in Perrysville, IN. William also started the Grace Baptist in Attica, IN, he had churches in Burnsville, NC and Greensville, SC and assisted with Maranatha Baptist Church and Community Bible Baptist in Veedersburg. He also spent many years doing missionary work and traveled the world helping those in need. William spent many years of his life working in the farming industry and driving trucks. His last place of employment was with Mac Van in Covington. Although religion was a huge part of William’s life the most important thing was his family. Whether it be fishing or mushroom hunting he love spending time with them.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm CST on Friday January 11, 2019 at First Baptist Church at 1211 N. Vermilion St. Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Rebert. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 7pm EST on Thursday January 10, 2019 at Sunset’s Covington Chapel 420 3rd St. Covington. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery on Old Route 63 in Covington. Memorial donations may be made in William’s name to the Lighthouse Children’s Home in San Jose Costa Rica.
