Joseph D. Chantos

May 17, 1967 ~ June 3, 2019 (age 52)

     Joseph D. Chantos, 52, of Georgetown, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side at 8:34pm, Monday, June 3, 2019.  He was born the son of Joseph and Judith {Gocken} Chantos on May 17, 1967, in Danville, IL.  He was united in marriage to Gretchen Pfeifer on August 6, 2009, in Las Vegas, NV.  She survives.

     He is also survived by his sons, Zechariah Andrew Chantos & Gabriel Daniel Chantos; his stepson, Jonathan Gilbreath; and his sister, Jackie (Mark) Biggs; nieces, Brittany Barrett & Lexi Arrasmith; his Aunts, Annie Janosik & Sue Otis and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Joe was a proud Veteran of the US Army.  He worked as a plumber and operated his business, Liberty Mechanical, for 8 years.  He was a member of the Otto Newlin Shooting Range.  He sponsored his son’s little league baseball teams.  Joe enjoyed reading and history as well as loved animals and playing Xbox.  Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his sons, Zechariah & Gabriel.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

     A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm, Monday June 10, 2019, at Danville National Cemetery, 1900 E Main St, Danville.  There will be a gathering of friends and family at the American Legion Post #210, 201 Prospect Place, Danville, following the graveside service.  Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Georgetown, located at 200 E West St, assisted his family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to his children’s college funds.  Please join his family in sharing memories through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
