Memories of the Heart Program for Children

memories

What does death look like through the eyes of a child?

Because coping with loss can be a confusing time for a child, Sunset offers Memories of the Heart to provide clarity and comfort.

Memories of the Heart combines activities, along with gentle discussion, to guide children through the mystery of a funeral or cremation and better understand their own feelings. Memories of the Heart sessions are generally scheduled in the time prior to a visitation or memorial service. The program coordinator, Miss Kristin, will listen to questions, facilitate activities, and promote conversation surrounding a child’s favorite memories of his or her loved one.

There is no cost associated with the Memories of the Heart children’s program. At Sunset, Memories of the Heart is a gift we are privileged to provide the families who place their trust in us.

Memories of the Heart Coordinator

I am here to listen to questions, facilitate activities, and promote conversation surrounding a child’s favorite memories of his or her loved one.

Kristin Kinney

My name is Kristin Kinney. I was born and raised in Danville. Graduate of Danville High School, then continued my education through Danville Area Community College and Franklin University. As a mother of a young child who lost their only grandparent at a young age, it has become my passion to walk through grief with children. To help them understand and grow older knowing that the memory of their loved one will always be alive in their minds and also their hearts.

Remember. Celebrate. Heal.
